The Meaning of the Lord's Prayer

As a prelude to looking at 'How to Pray the Lord's Prayer' we will first consider its meaning.

To me the primary meaning, or the fuundamental purpose of this form of prayer as taught by Jesus, is to bring us into a deeper and richer revelaion of the Fatherhood of God!

Although the picture of God as a Father is evident throughout all of Scripture, the New Testament revelation in Christ is overwhelming in its implications. He prayed that the very same love that He and His Father share whould be in us (John 17). How amazing is that?

The Lord's Prayer is a divine doorway to this reality being realised in our lives on an everyday basis.

As you take Jesus advice and pray in this way on a consistent basis, the awesome truth of God's love and care for you, and of your authority as one of His children to pray and bring transformation to the world around you will flood you heart.
