8 – The Church
An amazing study of the Bride of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is being prepared right now to one day stand alongside her Lord and Master and rule together throughout the eternities.
M8L1- The Ecclesia (The Church)
The subject of the Church is vast and comprises both the temporal aspects and the eternal aspects of the company of called out ones referred to as the Ecclesia. In this session we will focus on what Scripture teaches about the nature of the church, and the glorious calling we have been privileged to partake in: to corporately represent Christ in the earth, and spend eternity alongside Him in governance of the Created order. Some have tried to separate Jesus and His Church, claiming to love and follow Christ, yet despising His chosen Bride. Despite abuses within Christs Body however, the Church remains Gods instrument in the earth. This lesson is a timely reminder of the calling, the beauty, and the destiny of those God has called unto Himself.

M8L2-The Dwelling Place of God
Throughout history God has ensured that avenues of grace have been provided for Him to dwell amongst His chosen people. From the fellowship He enjoyed with Adam in the cool of Edens evening, through to the glorious structures of successive temples in Jerusalem, and now to His many membered Body, the Ecclesia, Gods desire has been to know and fellowship with mankind. This will be gloriously consummated in the foursquare city of New Jerusalem mentioned in the closing chapters of Revelation. The picture we are given of Gods dwelling is not only that of a building however, but of a living, breathing vital Body of many parts, all functioning as one to fulfil His purpose. In this lesson we take time to consider these two awe inspiring realities in some detail, yet even in doing so we are left aghast at the implications that the Almighty would dwell not only with us, but in us, the Ecclesia.

Under the prevailing truth that we are all ministers of the anointing, a kingdom of priests and kings, the Scripture speaks about specific ministries or functions within the Body of Christ. We will consider first the priesthood of all believers, and then look at specific areas of ministry as revealed in the Scriptures, specifically deacon and overseer. What does the Bible say about ministry in the Body of Christ? Is there a special kind of Christian who is called to ministry and other lesser Christians who are unequipped for such a calling? What is ministry? We consider these questions in this session and look at what the Bible says about specific areas of service in the Body of Christ.

M8L4-The Five Fold Ascension Gifts
Ephesians 4:11-13 outlines gifts that Jesus has given to the Church Body. When Jesus ascended to heaven after His resurrection He did not leave the foundling church an orphan, and His ministry in the earth did not come to an end. In reality, the ministry of Jesus that has been confined to His earthly Body, was released and a great and awesome flood began that would eventually cover the uttermost parts of the earth. Jesus told His disciples that it was beneficial for Him to go, and that He would send another like Himself to continue His ministry in and through His redeemed Body of people (John 16:7-16).

The area of women in ministry has long been one that has caused controversy and discussion. Certain scriptures, particularly in the Pauline letters appear to bar women from certain roles in the life of the church. However, a broader look at women and ministry in the Scriptures reveals a much more liberated picture. We will be considering the Scriptural proof contending for a definite, sanctioned and anointed place for women to minister within the Body of Christ. Realising that a position contrary to this can be equally validated, we nevertheless choose to take the stand that there is neither male nor female in Christ, but a new creation, and that as such women are validated in their anointing and leadership callings in Christ Jesus and to His Body.
