Overcoming Adversity

Why don’t the names of Buddha, Mohammed, Confucius offend people? The reason is that these others didn’t claim to be God, but Jesus did.

But the best definition of heaven is to say that heaven is that state where we will always be with Jesus, and where nothing will separate us from Him any more.

Death may be the King of terrors… but Jesus is the King of kings!

I know of a world that is sunk in shame,
Where hearts oft faint and tire;
But I know of a Name, a precious Name,
That can set that world on fire:
Its sound is sweet, its letters flame.
I know of a Name, a precious Name,
‘Tis Jesus.

Our problem is this: we usually discover him within some denominational or Christian ghetto. We meet him in a province and, having caught some little view, we paint him in smaller strokes. The Lion of Judah is reduced to something kittenish because our understanding cannot, at first, write larger definitions.

The real evidence for Jesus and Christianity is in how Jesus and the Christianity based on him manifest themselves in the lives of practicing Christians.

He changed sunset into sunrise.

The dying Jesus is the evidence of God’s anger toward sin; but the living Jesus is the proof of God’s love and forgiveness.

God will answer all our questions in one way and one way only. Namely, by showing us more of his Son.

Only Christ could have conceived Christ.
