Jesus Christ – The Name Above All Names

In a sense the whole plan of redemption rests upon a legal basis. The main characters in this great courtroom drama are God Himself, satan, Adam (as the first representative of mankind), and Jesus Christ (as the second representative).

Throughout history God has made covenant with His chosen people. These covenants can give us a Biblical framework for understanding the administration of God’s dealings with mankind throughout history. We discover in Scripture nine major covenants unveiling the purposes of God in both creation and redemption.

A dispensation in Christian belief is a divine ordering or management of affairs and events in the world, and the time during which a particular doctrine or practice is in force. One way to consider the broad stroke of God’s brush across the canvas of history is to look at how He has dealt differently with generation, and the progress of redemptive history dispensationally.

One of the features which sets Christianity apart from many other world religions is that it is founded upon historically verifiable events. It is not merely a book of philosophy or religious fairytales, but a very real historical account of God’s dealings with His creation, particularly as it pertains to mankind. To grasp this gives great substance to an already growing faith.
